A simple civics lesson, no longer taught in public schools, this cartoon is 9 minutes long, familiar cartoon characters if you’re over 60, the only thing shown here no longer done by citizens, toward the end, is when citizens start chasing the snake-oil salesmen with umbrellas, hatpins, canes, and sticks.

This was a power the people had (still do, if you’d only try it) and one people always assumed they’d had just 50 years ago. When citizens ran a politician out of town on a rail, or dipped him in oil and doused him in bird feathers, they didn’t have to hide behind masks to do it.

Give fear a chance again.
