This if from an pre-1830 painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence, and is made of “factile ivory” which is a plaster of Paris cast, set in a 10″ black velvet shadow-box, 1″ deep. The label on the back is original, definitely 19th C, but unknown if from US or England. 
 
Reads “Cabinet Museum of Economic Sculptures”– NATURE—modeled by EW Wyon(?) from the original art, and “published 1st of June, 1848
With a signature “Henry Ellington” guaranteeing authenticity I assume.
I can find no flaws, the velvet and the casting needs to be gently cleaned.
