You might find this little factoid interesting, but John F Kennedy inspired this song.

I doubt if JFK would have given the sentiments expressed by the songwriter, John Stewart, who was the Trio’s banjo player, much thought, but it’s noteworthy that a whole generation believed those sentiments existed in JFK.  The Trio recorded this in 1963, Stewart was 24 at the time, and I was 17. My folk group also sang it in 1963, and I played banjo too.

I just wrote a piece about politicians not being able to be Heroes, but JFK, for that innocent generation, was their Hero at least.

Donald Trump has inspired a totally different segment of America’s population, a much, much larger, and older one than those who swooned for JFK, but these lyrics still live in what what Donald Trump is saying today.

So give the words a listen.
