What’s New Pussycat? The Hollywood Zeitgeist of the Ages

Seems the Hollywood Academy Regrets Their Hasty Decision to Banish Harvey Weinstein

You see, Hollywood had forgotten their past 20-30 years of moral outrage had always been pretend, or at least selective, but once Harvey was dispatched, that outrage sated, there was a flood of new charges, many, actually most, disputed. And no proof other than a complaint. Often several years old. Even against Weinstein, the only charges against him that stuck were those covered by settlement agreements (and associated non-disclosure agreements)….thus justifying the ban.

Worse, it seems gay men, a protected species in Hollywood, are as culpable as straight guys.

As we know from Bill Cosby, these kinds of charges don’t do well in front of juries. Which is why the Allred girls (Gloria and daughter Lisa Bloom) chose to be paid up-front just for getting the charges in front of compliant gossip-media, which, thanks to Donald Trump, they’ve all become. I get the sense the Allred girls aren’t good with juries either. (That Sincerity seminar they attended in Ought-3 seems to be running like cheap mascara.)

That was supposed to be it.

But the most damaging hammer to the Academy and its board members is that the list grew, the floodgates opened, from Kevin Spacy, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Affleck, and Louis CK, (already eloquently defended by Dave Chappelle, who said what Louis did didn’t offend him, it made him laugh). The number of Hollywood celebrities who knew or probably knew, or should known is also growing. Since #HeKnew and #SheKnew has already been laid on the bosoms of some of Hollywood’s elite about Harvey, silence has become a co-conspirator which may condemn more and more of the Academy membership, who now appear as hypocritical and unfit to stand in judgment of any other Academy member by selectively singling out only one for banishment and then wash their hands and walk away.

What to do? What to do?.

What’s New Pussycat? The real Hollywood zeitgeist of the ages

Ever hear of this film? 1965. A comedy aimed at the young collegians of America (I was 20 at the time) with a sterling cast. The trailer is worth 3 minutes of your time, because I want you to count the number of “He/SheKnew” moments while Hollywood was advertising the same sort of conduct it now must embarrassingly (and hypocritically) admit it abhors.

Everything was a sex romp in Hollywood.

The only choice left for the Academy is to collectively resign, and either pass the full 7000 strong membership to the best candidates from the various Film Studies departments at UCLA, Southern Cal, Cal-Berkeley, NYC, CCNY, or,… the Board of Governors at Liberty University and the Order of Carmelite Nuns.

For arrogant, condescending, down the nose self-righteousness, the Hollywood film industry would do better and recover quicker if they turn over their offices to the Baptists and the Catholics…for as the ad goes, “they know a thing or two because they’ve seen a thing or two.”
